Our stay at the Bungalow in the Boulders was fantastic
Our stay at the Bungalow in the Boulders was fantastic. The property is absolutely stunning. It’s located close to town, yet private enough you don’t hear or see anyone. The large cottage is in wonderful condition with great vintage appliances & other sweet touches. It’s super clean and well stocked. The outside area is beautiful with desert finds tucked everywhere. Great for relaxing and watching the sunset. The neon signs are out of this world, and made an already special place an exceptional treat. Don’t forget to feed the quail, birds, and cotton tails that come calling. Our host, Cary, went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and cared for. He is exceptionally thoughtful and responsive. Thank you, Cary, it was a wonderful trip for us.

Cary’s place proves that there’s still magic in the world
Cary’s place proves that there’s still magic in the world. Located a few miles from the West (Main) Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park, it’s very hard to describe Cary’s place. It’s basically an open-air museum expansively laid out over 5 desert acres with still functioning 1950’s and 1960’s neon motel and restaurant signs, rusting vintage cars, all sorts of period signage, and many other things, arranged in an incredibly artful way. When I first arrived, I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. It’s that awesome! There are lots of other very cool things, like the little house made of glass bottles, the neat mid-century furnishings in the main cottage and the daily collection of furry and feathered visitors to what I’ll term “the habitat.” These include rabbits, jackrabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, quail, California scrub jays, and many other avian amigos. Hands down, this was one of the best Airbnb experiences I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.

Cool place, perfect for our secluded weekend journey
Cool place, perfect for our secluded weekend journey. Cary responded quickly to our inquiries and was understanding of our special needs. He also gave us a cool history on the neon signs, one of which we remembered from growing up in Palm Desert! Lots of opportunities for inspiration around this place...

Awesome experience exploring the property
Awesome experience exploring the property of treasured classic pieces from the past. Kids loved feeding the animals, wandering the land and waking up in the bottle house. The home has everything you could need to relax after a wandering day in the JTNP. BBQ and fire pit to top off the evening. The star gazing from any point on the property is remarkable! Super host, quick to answer and great to communicate with. Don’t forget to do the treasure hunt!
